An important decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ashok Gilot on Monday at CM Niwas. During the meeting, the Jahlut government approved a proposal to notify the formation of 17 new municipalities in 12 districts of Rajasthan. The formation of these municipalities was announced in the state budget 2020-2021.
The municipalities approved by the Council of Ministers in 12 provinces (Dawsa, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Sirohi, Jodhpur, Kuta, Srinagangar, Sawai Madhupur, Paran, Karuli, Daulpur) are Mandavari, Bassi, Ramgarh, Bansur, Jawwal, Bhubalgarh, Lalgarh. Gatan, Ocean, Sikri, Saramathura, Badidi, Atro, Bafta-Brajpura, Sultanpur, Saputra, Laxmangarah and Amanwas. Now elections for members of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti will be held in the remaining rural areas of the newly formed municipal areas of these districts.
At the meeting, the Supreme Court also discussed the approach required of all states while hearing the petition under consideration regarding the 50 percent reservation limit and 50 percent reservation only in specific circumstances.
