Jiten Prasada became the Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress in 2001. He tried his luck in the 14th Lok Sabha elections from his seat in the house of the Lok Sabha, Shah Jahanpur in 2004 and won it. For the first time, Jeeten Prasad was appointed Union Minister of Steel in the year 2008. Then in 2009, Jeeten Prasad ran for the 15th Dharan Lok Sabha election from Dhahra Lok Sabha and also won 184,509 votes. Jeetin Prasad served as Federal Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways from 2009 to January 2011, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas from January 19, 2011 to October 28, 2012, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Development from October 28. 2012 to May 2014, in the UPA government. Jiten Prasad is a very famous leader of Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur and Sitapur. Jeetin Prasad is well known for his development and peace-loving policies in Uttar Pradesh.
