Political agitation erupted in Haryana amid agitation by farmers against three new agricultural laws. The Legislative Assembly will vote in Haryana today after discussions on Congress and the motion of no-confidence.
Today it will become clear whether Prime Minister Manohar Lal Khattar can rescue his government or not. The current number of MLA agreements in the Legislative Assembly in Haryana is 88 and the Khattar government needs 45 to prove a majority. The total number of seats in the assembly is 90.
At present, the number rises to 50 with the BJP having 40 MLAs and 10 JJP MLAs. The Khattar government is also said to be backed by 5 independent legal aid agreements. Given this, there is no threat to the government.
While Congress plans to play the Kisan Andolan card, Deputy Prime Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chautala will be able to have JJP MLAs by their side. In such a case, the government will fall. However, this does not sound easy.
The BJP, JJP and Congress issued a whip to their lawmakers over the no-confidence motion.
