Everyone knows the name Mangal Pandey, did you know, Mangal Pandey sacrificed himself on April 8, 1857 for the independence of the country. Those who fought madly for freedom like Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt dropped bombs on April 8, 1929 in the Central Assembly of Delhi.

1857 – Mangal Pandey, a soldier of the Parakpur Regiment, is executed for inciting a revolt against the British government.

1894 Pankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, composer of the Indian patriotic song Bandi Mataram, died in Calcutta.

1929 Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar struck bombs at Assembly Hall in Delhi and were arrested.

1950 Liaquat Nehru Agreement between India and Pakistan.

1973 Spanish painter Pablo Picasso passed away. He is considered perhaps the most effective painter of the twentieth century.

2013 Ex-British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher dies in London. She was the first woman prime minister of any European country, not just Great Britain
